Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has new launched the first edition of Agri India Hackathon. The Minister of Agriculture said on the occasion that it will promote innovation in agriculture. Therefore, there will be positive changes in farming and small farmers will benefit. Tomar said that innovation and startup villages would benefit small farmers and a major positive change in agriculture. According to the Agriculture Ministry, new applications for Agri India Hackathon will be closed on January 20. The two-month hackathon will have three elimination rounds and at the end 24 winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
Hackathon can solve agricultural problems
Tomar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on research and innovation in agriculture at the event organized by Pusa-based Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) under the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ACAR). Drawing attention, Agri India suggested organizing the hackathon. He said that the PM emphasized the need for the use of digital technology in the field of agriculture and believed that the problems of the agriculture sector can be solved through the agricultural hackathon.
New dimensions added to agriculture
He said, We need to make sure that the agricultural sector is more profitable, that the youth are attracted to agriculture, that the crops diversify, that the use of fertilizers is gradually decreasing, that we are increasingly using organic farming and Moving towards micro irrigation, ”he said. He said that there is no shortage in the labor of farmers, today the need is to add new dimensions to the agriculture sector and agricultural startups can make a huge contribution in this regard.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala said that innovation will make agricultural work profitable. Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary, who was present on the occasion, said that this is a very important program in terms of technology. This will give immense potential for development in the agricultural sector.
Probability of winning 1 lakh rupees cash
Agri India Hackathon is a platform that will allow students and young startups to express their innovation and creativity. The plan will run for 60 days. It features over 3000 innovations, over 5000 participants, over 100 thinkers, over 1000 start-ups and over 50 speakers from across the country. The 24 best innovations will be selected from various focus areas. Each of these will be given a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
