Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has new launched the first edition of Agri India Hackathon. According to the Agriculture Ministry, new applications for Agri India Hackathon will be closed on January 20. The two-month hackathon will have three elimination rounds and at the end 24 winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.




Hackathon can solve agricultural problems

Tomar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on research and innovation in agriculture at the event organized by Pusa-based Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) under the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ACAR). Drawing attention, Agri India suggested organizing the hackathon. He said that the PM emphasized the need for the use of digital technology in the field of agriculture and believed that the problems of the agriculture sector can be solved through the agricultural hackathon.


New dimensions added to agriculture


He said, We need to make sure that the agricultural sector is more profitable, that the youth are attracted to agriculture, that the crops diversify, that the use of fertilizers is gradually decreasing, that we are increasingly using organic farming and Moving towards micro irrigation, ”he said.
