The big news for consumers, for the first time, will get these 10 rights, will be a big advantage

The government has started the process for new rules for electricity consumers across the country, a draft has been prepared by the Ministry of Power for which many rights have been given.

For the first time, the Union Ministry of Power has drafted rules to empower the electricity consumers of the country. The consumer is the biggest beneficiary of the power sector and it is because of this sector. Providing electricity as well as satisfaction to all citizens is very important.

For the first time, the government has prepared a draft in the interest of consumers. The Ministry of Power has invited advice, views, comments on this draft till 30 September. The ministry released a draft in this regard on 9 September. And all future advice and proposals will be finalized keeping in mind.

(1)  and easy process connection: only two documents for power connections up to 10 kW and no estimated demand charges for loads up to 150 kW to speed the connection.

(2) The period for granting new connections and improving existing connections shall not exceed 7 days in metro cities, 15 days in other municipal areas and 30 days in rural areas.

(3) 2 to 5 percent discount on delayed billing of 60 days or more.

(4) DISCOM constituted to determine number of customers per year and outage period for power distribution companies

(5) To give an option to pay outstanding bills through cash, check, debit card and net banking etc. and bills of 1000 or more can be paid only.

(6) Provisions related to disconnection, reconnection, meter replacement, billing and payment etc.

(7) Recognizing the series of consumers as a series of prosecutors, this is a person who is a consumer of electricity as well as having installed solar energy equipment on the floor.

(8) Provision for compensation or penalty in case of delay in service and reimbursement of bills by the power distribution companies as far as possible.

(9) 24x7 toll-free call center, web-based support and general services SMS and e-mail such as new connections, disconnection, reconnection, change of connection location, name change, change of load, change of meter, power supply.

(10) Establishment of Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum with 2-3 representatives of consumers at various levels from subdivision to facilitate redressal of consumer complaints.
