An important meeting was held on Tuesday to deal with the problems of farmers amid a nationwide lockout to combat the corona virus. The meeting, organized by video conference, was attended by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and all officials of the ministry.

The meeting directed to take regular care of farmers by strictly implementing measures to provide relief to farmers and to create control rooms. Narendra Singh Tomar himself approached the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Finance regarding the problems of the farmers in view of the lockdown.


Social distancing is very much needed

Giving information about some decisions taken in this meeting, Narendra Singh Tomar said that whatever decision was taken in the interest of farmers, the decision should be implemented while maintaining social distance.

Farmers should have no problem at the time of harvest

Every effort should be made to sell agricultural produce near the farm.

Farmers should have access to state and interstate vehicles to carry crops.

Decision to allow trucks to harvest during lockdown

Further sowing will also be done so that fertilizers are not scarce.

Agricultural commodities exported should not be affected

Harvesting and harvesting equipment should be allowed.

Agricultural machinery and parts shops can be continued during the lockout

There will also be truck repair garages and petrol pumps on the highway

At least 50 percent work can be done in tea garden
