The government announced a farmer assistance package of Rs 531 crore in the remaining districts. The government has taken a big decision on the damage caused to the crop due to heavy rains, 6800 hectares will be given to the farmers. The government has decided to assist in damage to crops in nine other areas. Announcing this after today's meeting, government spokesperson Jitu Vaghan said that the government has announced a package of Rs 531 crore to help the farmers in the remaining districts. When Rs. Farmers will be given subsidy at the rate of Rs 6800 per hectare. 4000 will be provided for half hectare while assistance will be paid for the top two hectares. After verification, appropriate assistance will be provided to the farmers directly in the bank account.

Announcing the aid package to 5 lakh farmers, Jitu Vaghan said that 9 districts and 37 talukas would be eligible for the assistance. The government will provide assistance to farmers in Ahmedabad, Botad, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Chhotaudpur, Panchmahal, Amreli, Bharuch, Vadodara. Farmers of 1530 districts will get direct benefits. Vaghan also said that 7.65 lakh hectares of land was allotted to the project.

Government spokesperson and Prime Minister Jitu Vaghani, while announcing the package, said it would cover nine counties, 37 tehsils and 1,530 villages. The total area to be covered by this package is 7.65 lakh hectares, which is 5 lakh farmers. The nine areas affected by the September floods are Ahmedabad, Botad, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Baruch, Panchmahal, Junagadh, Chhota Udaipur and Vadodara.
Vaghani said the package was announced after surveying the affected districts. As per the package, the farmer is entitled to Rs 6800 per hectare for an area of up to two hectares. He further said that under the rules of the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), a farmer is entitled to Rs 3400 as assistance in case of damage to an area of 0.5 hectares.
