How to Download PUC Certificate or Pollution Cartificate Online Your Vehicle Download
To make the process of PUC certificate easier, and to help people to apply for pollution certificate online, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has created a dedicated online platform. To download the pollution certificate online, you have to follow the following steps:
Step 1: Go to https://vahan.parivahan.gov.in/puc
Step 2: Click on the PUC certificate section.
Step 3 Mention your new registration number and last 5 letters of vehicle chassis number and fill captcha code.
Step 4: If you are still under validity, you will be sent to a page with your pollution control certificate. There, you can print and download your new PUC certificate online.
Vehicle pollution certificate validity
As the vehicle ages, emissions levels begin to vary. Therefore, the government has made sure for the owner to keep checking pollution levels at regular intervals, and obtain a valid pollution certificate online or offline. The criteria for validity of pollution certificate in India are as follows:
Validity of pollution certificate for new vehicles: As mentioned earlier, new vehicles come with a vehicle PUC certificate which is valid for one year, after which it is subject to renewal as per government guidelines.
Validity of PUC certificate for older vehicles: For older vehicles, the validity of the PUC certificate is 6 months. In case of adverse readings, the validity time frame will depend on the recorded pollution level.
PUC certificate fee for various vehicles
The PUC certificate fee depends on the fuel type of the vehicle, along with the type of vehicle. The cost of a pollution certificate for the price of a car, the cost of a pollution certificate for a bike, and the price of a PUC certificate for trucks fall in the range of Rs. 60 to Rs. 100.
What is the penalty for not having a pollution certificate
According to the Motor Vehicles Act, just as it is mandatory to carry your vehicle registration certificate, insurance details and a valid driving license, it is also mandatory to carry the pollution of your vehicle under control certificate. For failure to do so, you must have filed a case under Section 190 (2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and will be fined heavily for not having a pollution certificate with you.

On failure of the vehicle to produce a valid PUC certificate, Rs. Is fined. 1,000 for first time offenders. A fee of Rs. 2,000 are fine for expired pollution certificates for subsequent offenses.
