Recently, Sunita Sharma, Deputy Secretary of the Union Ministry of Education, has sent the final school policy 2020 to the education secretaries of each state based on the new education policy 2020. This policy will be mandatory to be implemented in every school in the country. The policy also sets the standard for a child's weight. In addition, it has been announced that every child from first grade to 12th grade will go to school for 10 days without a bag.

Each state must follow the new school bag policy announced by the Minister of Education. Along with this, internships of carpenter, agriculture, horticulture, local artists etc. will be given to children from 6th to 8th grade on the basis of vocational training. How much should a school bag weigh?


The state must respond to the policy before it is implemented. The school bag policy defines the main responsibility of the school and parents. The total weight of the school bag of the 10th grade students should not exceed 10% of its weight.


Special arrangements for pre-primary children


There will be no school bag for pre-primary children. A digital machine will be placed to measure the weight of the school bag. This machine will be compulsory in every school. The school bag should be able to hang well over the shoulder. So that the child can pick it up easily. The school will have to provide mid-day meals so that they do not have to bring lunch.


School has to be provided with water


The school must provide clean water instead of water bottles. No bag time will be decided based on the time table. So that the child brings books on that basis.

The first and second standard will have only one notebook for children.

No bags for pre-primary.

Weight 1.6 to 2.2 kg for 1 and 2 standard.

Weight 1.7 to 2.5 kg for standard 3 to 5.

Weight 2 to 3 kg for 6th and 7th standard.

Weight 2.5 to 4.5 kg for 8th to 10th grade.

Weight 3.5 to 5 kg for 11th and 12th grade.
