The Indian government has introduced a new Central Sector Scheme, Pradhan Mantri KIsan SAmman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) to increase the income of Small and Medium Farmers (SMFs). The program was new launched in February 2019.
It is run by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperative & Farmer Welfare (DAC & FW) under the Department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare through the Department of Agriculture of all District and District Governments.
Under this Plan, a direct payment of Rs. 6000 per year will be all transferred in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 is every four months in the bank accounts of eligible landowners.
There are many steps that the Government is taking to reach all eligible beneficiaries under PM-KISAN. Social media has been made available for registration, considering payment status, Aadhaar name adjustment as required by the program. To expand further access, the PM-KISAN mobile app designed and developed by the National Informatics Center (NIC), Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India was introduced.
